Electromagnetic Waves’ Impact on Hydraulic Conductivity of Granular Soils

Electromagnetic (EM) waves, traditionally used for purposes such as geophysical characterization, impact properties to be measured. This paper describes the effects of radio frequency (RF) waves on hydraulic conductivity glass beads and natural sand. A series tests was conducted using a customized, rigid-wall, cylindrical permeameter inside resonant cavity made Plexiglas covered with electrically conductive transparent films. Constant-head ASTM-D2434 were performed measure samples’ conductivity. RF stimulation magnetically coupled loop antenna at various frequencies input RF-power levels. The both sand glass-bead samples increased stimulation. Furthermore, measurement electric field component also illustrate pattern field, well evaluate RF’s tests. numerically simulated validated against experimentally measured fields. finite-difference numerical model developed in MATLAB analyze seepage flow, which then experimental results.
